Some yards just get away from you. Overgrown bushes, weeds taking over, old landscape fabric that stopped doing its job years ago - it happens. That's exactly what we walked into on this Vadnais Heights property. The side areas of the home had turned into a tangled mess that was making the whole place feel rough around the edges.
We started from scratch. Everything was cleared out - debris, dead growth, worn-out material, all of it gone. Once we had a clean slate, we laid down quality landscape fabric and topped it with fresh landscape rock. That combination is what actually keeps weeds from coming back long-term. Skipping the fabric and just throwing rock on top is one of the most common shortcuts out there, and you end up fighting the same battle again in a season or two.
Then came the plantings. We selected fresh plants that work well in this setting and spaced them out properly so they have room to grow and fill in cleanly. The goal was a finished look that holds up - not just something that looks good for a few weeks.
The difference between the before and after on this one is hard to overstate. What was once a cluttered, overgrown side yard is now an open, clean space with a clear walkway, fresh rock, and new plantings that actually complement the home. It's the kind of work that makes the whole property feel cared for again.
