Some properties just have unused space that's begging to be put to work. That's exactly what we were dealing with here in Shoreview. The homeowners had two separate areas on either side of the house that were basically sitting idle - no function, no purpose. They wanted real outdoor space to host and entertain during Minnesota summers, and that's what we built them.

We installed two separate paver patios on two different sides of the property. Each one was built to serve a distinct purpose, but both were constructed the same way - with a solid, properly compacted base underneath. That base work is what separates a patio that lasts from one that shifts, settles, and cracks after a few freeze-thaw cycles. Minnesota winters don't forgive shortcuts.

The paver pattern and color tie both spaces together nicely. You get that clean, structured look without it feeling overdone. The bordered edge detail on each patio gives it a finished, intentional appearance - not something thrown together. One side sits right at grade and connects naturally to the yard. The other ties directly into the staircase coming off the screened porch above, making the whole outdoor flow of the home feel intentional.

This is a great example of how two relatively simple additions can completely change how a property gets used. More space means more opportunities to be outside with people you like. That's the whole point.

If you've got unused areas around your home in Shoreview or the surrounding Twin Cities area, there's a good chance a patio could work there. It doesn't always take a massive yard or a big renovation - sometimes it just takes someone willing to look at the space the right way.
